On Apr 9th at Kensington Town Hall, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange took part in a debate on whistleblowing for the proposition. Other speakers for the proposition were Mehdi Hasan, senior editor for politics of the New Statesman, and Clayton Swisher, head of al-Jazeera's transparency unit.

Bob Ayers, former director of the information systems and security program at the US department of defence, David Richmond, former director for British defence and intelligence and member of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Board, and Douglas Murray, author and commentator spoke for the opposition.

Assange, Hansen, Swisher, Ayers, Richmond and Murray debated the motion 'This house believes that whistleblowers make the world a safer place'.

Around 900 people, including many photographers and camera crews came to witness the debate, which was the first time Assange has been out in public speaking since Cablegate.

Jason Cowley introduced the debate and set out the rule that each speaker has seven minutes to make his case, during which the other side could offer points of information.

  2. If you are able to change the photos ever so slightly in such a way as to edit them for your own personal artistic purposes and expressions (such as those afforded by blog spaces). . .for example, I like a blot art over a portion of a projector screen as a powerful piece of expression. . .then it may be possible to display pictures like these without copyright (our annon is either foreign or poor at spelling) infringement.

Hope this helps. Thank you for the post.
